Project 004 – Industrial design
Low-Cost UAV Crop Camera Housing Design
This client was developing a very low-cost UAV crop camera. He had his electronics boards almost completed but still needed a housing and mounting bracket. The client did not have a lot of experience with industrial or mechanical design and needed help with the creation of the housing.
The client wanted to start with a small series of 3D-printed housings to first test his product and the market.
To help this client, I made a lightweight camera housing and mounting bracket design. The first couple of production runs of this housing were to be 3D-printed from SLS nylon. The design was such that in a later stage only little adjustments were necessary to allow for production by injection molding.
The housing design was modular for two physical models: one for a low-cost smaller lens and one for a better performing (but heavier) larger lens.
